Well, well, well! Adobe, the leader of Gartner's Magic Quadrant, always leads the e-commerce platforms with its impeccable features and enhancement with timely releases. Even Adobe Commerce has never failed or compromised the safety and security of its commerce platforms. Releasing Magento 2.4.4, they have firmly set the new foundation of commerce. Likewise, On the 9th of August 2022, Magento 2.4.5 is up for the users with enhancements in platform quality, performance, and security.

The Magento community is glad about this release and wants to explore and give as much as possible to their store owners.

Release Updates

This release includes enhancements to platform quality, performance, security, and scale. Listed are a few of the highlights that include:

  • Improved Performance: 3X increase in the rate of orders processed per hour, 3X page views per hour, API improvements and not to miss out, adoption of PHP 8.1

  • Enhanced Technology: Optimization of GraphQL API that leads to 5% faster response times and 80% reduction in the time to rebuild GraphQL schema

  • Google Services: Updation in Google services integration to help use GTag APIs, a unified mechanism for integration that supports the newest capabilities and opportunities to track and manage content and web pages through Google services like AdWords and Analytics.

  • For B2B Customers: Removal of duplicate SKUs from shared catalogs helps customers have more extensive and complex catalogs.

  • Accessibility Enhancements: Enhancement that creates a storefront experience on PWA Studio that is more perceivable, like contrast and keyboard accessibility enhancements and support for screen readers announcing when a new page view loads along with search results summary information.

Many new things have been implemented with the latest Magento 2.4.5 release. Let's take a look at what they are!

Security Enhancement

  • Magento open-source has fixed over 290 quality and enhancement issues, while Adobe commerce has fixed over 400 issues.

  • Twenty security fixes and platform security improvements have been made.

  • Google reCAPTCHA support has been added to various places such as the Wish List Sharing, Create New Customer Account and Gift Card forms.

  • Addition of ACL resources to Inventory and enhancement in Inventory template security.

  • The <MaliciousCode> has been upgraded to use the <HtmlPurifier>.

Platform Enhancement

  • Adobe Commerce on-premises can use either Elasticsearch 1.7 or OpenSearch 1.2. and for Adobe Commerce 2.4.5 cloud deployment, OpenSearch is the default search engine.

  • Magento 2.4.5 supports Composer 2.2, jQueryUI (1.13.1), TinyMCE (5.10.2), and PHPStan (^1.5.7 with constraint) GitHub-35315

  • With the latest JavaScript library versions, outdated dependencies have been removed.

  • Nearly 20 composer dependencies have been updated with M 2.4.5

  • DHL schema has been updated to V6.2 from V6.0

Accessibility and other updates

  • This release focuses on creating a storefront experience on PWA studio that is more robust, perceivable, and understandable.

  • Commerce users can allow shoppers with Adobe Sign (electronic documentation) and have the entire automated documentation during checkouts.

  • Branding has been updated for the Admins with the alignment of Adobe's brand guidelines.

GraphQL

  • Faster rebuilding of unified storefronts GraphQL schema on deployment. Even shoppers have experienced faster speed when GraphQL schema is rebuilt.

  • Addition of the authorization token with expiration date/time in the GraphQL API.

  • With token authorization, merchants can disable the creation of session cookies for all GraphQL operations that affect the performance.

  • Removal of session usage from http header.

Payments

  • Apple pay is now available for all the merchants, and they can toggle this feature if not required.

  • Spain and Italy merchants can use PayPal Pay Later offering to their shoppers.

  • Discontinuation of Braintree's KOUNT fraud protection from the code base and addition of Always request 3DS in Admin.

PWA Studio

  • PWA studio version 12.5.X is compatible with the latest M2.4.5

  • Shoppers' behavioral data is collected on PWA for web analytics services through various events, and merchants can subscribe to it when needed.

  • Merchants can deploy services such as Google Tag Manager via Admin.

Issues Fixed

Magento has covered many points fixed with the latest M2.4.5 version. A few of them are:

  • Admin can set the custom URL from the Admin without getting any errors.

  • Lesser conflict when Commerce merchants are using Adobe Commerce Analytics with the store!

  • Fixation of Sign-out issue with Adobe Stock.

  • When the Product Subselect Rule is applied, it shows correct calculations for the cart total for the bundle products.

  • Admin can set the zero session time out from the backend and always log it as per their will.

  • When changing the quantity, correct the price calculation for the configurable products on the product page.

  • Error Display when the customer enters an invalid mail id in Shipping info.

  • Fixes on Image flickering issues on product pages.

  • Layered Navigation fixes with filtration of Products by color.

  • Unsubscribe URL issues in newsletter mail work well now.
